What to do…

Unfortunately the owners of the radio station that I have been a part of for 20 years have severe financial issues and are going to sell the station. Non-commercial stations are not as valuable as commercial stations, but they believe this is the only way they can survive.

Here is an article that appeared in the Washington Times this past week. -  http://www.washingtontimes.com/article/20070718/BUSINESS/107180017/1006

So it appears a career change is heading my way, never figured on that happening, but there you go…

I’ve had to change careers more times than I can count. It’s tough, but always a good learning experience.

I’ve been laid off and fired from oodles of jobs . . . then I started trying to get ahead of the game and initiated job changes periodically. It’s kind of freaky, but it can be very life-affirming. One thing I’ve always regretted, though, was taking a job too quickly after — or even just before — being laid-off. All my fellow lay-offees were collecting unemployment, re-examining their goals and objectives, sleeping in, reading those books they never got around to . . . and there I was working at a job I didn’t like ’cause I rushed into it out of desparation. I vote for waiting for the ax to fall, filing an unemployment claim, availing yourself of all sorts of career-transition services that may be offered to you gratis, and smelling the roses. These opportuntities don’t come around too often. Enjoy it while you can!
