Here is an article that appeared in the Washington Times this past week. - http://www.washingtontimes.com/article/20070718/BUSINESS/107180017/1006

Well is was only a week, but it felt like an eternity. She had kept going in this one person’s backyard who had cat food out for her cats. We convinced the person to let us set the live trap and put the cat food in the trap. It was set on Friday evening, and in the morning, bam there she was in the live trap!! She is well, skinny and dirty but well. Thanks to everyone looking, and especially the town of Mount Airy who seemed to pull the stops out on finding this poor girl.

Our dearest Maggie went to the Rainbow Bridge last week. It looked like she contracted pneumonia, but when the anti-biotics did not work, and she got worse on Sunday. We realized she probably had cancer that had moved to her lungs. I don’t know what it is about January, but we lost little Angel in January of 2001. I am beginning to think that January is just not a good month for us.
We got Maggie when she was 12 weeks old, and Dawn and I had just gotten married. She was 12 when we made that difficult decision to let her go. It was good to see her peaceful for the last few moments of her life. The previous 4 days she had such trouble breathing, even with the chest percussions and being surrounded by Vicks Vaporizers.

Maggie had lots of spunk until she got sick. She would still chase the other dogs and loved her two toys – her Frisbee that our Angel taught her to play, and her purple ball that ALL the dogs even the fosters knew better then to take from her.

We miss her, and the house is quiet. Rosie has been a God send as she has kept PD’s mind off of Maggie, and she snuggles with me.

The dogs had no problem, though Sara barked at the first couple of pops. It was very pretty to watch. Sue’s horses were not happy about it though. As Dawn says it lasts longer then the DC fireworks and is prettier. I am not sure if they hire someone, but it is cool to sit in your backyard and get a full fireworks show.

Things are looking good for her from the couple that met her a few weeks ago at the Walk and Wag in Frederick. She really liked them, and they spent over an hour with her. I hope they pass the homevisit and application process and choose Sara, though Dawn will be crying when she leaves…
